St Louis: Three people including suspect have died and seven others injured seriously after a shooting at a high school in St Louis High School, Missouri.

The suspected, an armed former student entered St. Louis high school on Monday morning and killed a teacher and teenage girl. He injured seven others. The suspect was also killed in retaliatory action by the police.

The suspect was 19-year-old former student and his motive for the attack is not yet clear.

According to the police, the attack at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School led to the students resorting to classroom cramps, some jumping out of windows and many running out of the building to save their lives.

One of the students said that the shooter immediately came in front of her but his gun got jammed and seeing the opportunity, she managed to run away from there.

Addressing a news conference on Monday afternoon, Police Chief Michael Sack said the shooter, identified as 19-year-old Orlando Harris, had just graduated from school last year.

Sack said an investigation was still underway to determine the cause of the attack, but police also suspect that Harris was suffering from some kind of mental illness. Investigators also searched Harris’ home after the incident.

Authorities did not reveal the names of the dead, but the St. Louis Post Dispatch identified the deceased teacher as Jean Cuzca. The identity of the 16-year-old girl who was killed has also not been revealed.

Seven other students, aged 15 and 16, including four boys and three girls, were among those injured. Their conditions are said to be stable.
