New Delhi: A road accident has occurred after a collision of three vehicles in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, leading to death of at least 15 people and more than 40 passengers were injured in the accident, who were returning to their native places on the eve of Diwali, police said.
The accident took place on National Highway 30 (NH-30) connecting the border of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh (MP).
According to the information, the accident took place on the intervening night of Friday-Saturday.
The bus was going from Jabalpur to Prayagraj via Rewa. The Sohagi Police reached the spot and pulled out the passengers trapped in the bus. The injured have been admitted to Tyonthar Civil Hospital.
Rewa Superintendent of Police gave this information
Rewa Superintendent of Police Navneet Bhasin informed that 15 people were killed in a collision between a bus, trolley and truck near Suhagi Hill. Of the 40 injured, 20 have been admitted to a hospital in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
CM Shivraj expresses grief
According to the information, there were more than 100 people in the bus. People were returning to their homes on the festival. In the accident, 3 people died on the spot while 11 people died during treatment in the hospital. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed grief over the accident and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
The third vehicle fled from the spot
After the accident, the bus and truck are said to be on the spot while the third driver with his vehicle escaped. Police are trying to find out which side the third vehicle went with the help of CCTV cameras of the nearby toll plaza.
The people who lost their lives and injured in the accident are said to be laborers. At present, the administration is trying to contact the families of the dead and injured.
