Chandigarh: The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has given a gift to the government employees of the state before Diwali.
In the meeting of the Punjab Cabinet on Friday, it was decided to restore the old pension scheme. This decision of the Government of Punjab will benefit lakhs of employees.
Employees had been demanding the restoration of the old pension scheme for a long time. Along with this, the Punjab government also approved the 6 percent installment of Dearness allowance (DA).
On the restoration of old pension in Punjab, CM Bhagwant Mann said, “Today, a historic decision has been taken for its employees in the meeting of the Punjab Cabinet. The AAP government is going to restore the old pension scheme. The Cabinet has given in-principle approval to this decision. We stand with our employees. Those who fulfilled the promise, what we say, we do. In today’s cabinet meeting, decisions were taken in favor of the employees.”
The Cabinet approved a gift to employees and pensioners on the occasion of Diwali. Payment of 6 per cent DA installment will be sanctioned to employees and pensioners, which will be effective from October 1, he said.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the employees of Punjab on this historic decision of the Punjab government.
“We had promised Punjab that we will implement the Old Pension Scheme in Punjab. Today Bhagwant Mann fulfilled the promise. Congratulations to all the employees of Punjab. The not implementing pension scheme is injustice, OPS should be implemented back in the entire country, if HP and the people of Gujarat give a chance, they will implement OPS there too.”
