New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan. Earlier, Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had raided Khan’s house and other locations. During this time, an unlicensed weapon with Rs 12 lakh and cartridges was recovered from Khan’s associates. Based on this, he has been arrested.
The ACB is probing alleged irregularities in recruitment in the Delhi Waqf Board.
The ACB had on Thursday issued a notice to Khan for questioning in the two-year-old corruption case. Khan, an MLA from Okhla constituency, was called for questioning at 12 noon on Friday in connection with a case registered in 2020 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Earlier, the ACB had written to the LG’s secretariat requesting Khan’s removal as chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board.
The ACB had claimed in the letter that Khan tried to influence the investigation by threatening witnesses in the case against him.
Khan, chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board, had tweeted about the notice and claimed that he has been summoned as he has built a new Waqf Board office.
