Chandigarh: A youth reportedly in inebriated condition was murdered by two Nihangs following a heated argument over smoking near Golden Temple premises, police said.

During the fight, the turban toasted of a Nihang Sikh and in a fit of rage, two Nihangs and a Sikh youth together attacked the youth with a sword.

The youth who was badly injured in the incident died on the spot.

Police Commissioner Arunpal Singh said that a youth has been arrested after the incident. The youth has been identified as Ramandeep Singh. After the quarrel, Ramandeep had also joined the Nihang Sikhs and attacked Harmanjit. The Nihangs have also been identified, they will also be caught soon.

The Nihang Sikhs have been identified as Charanjit Singh and Tarundeep Singh.

The incident took place at Bazaar Kaiyan Wala near golden temple. Harmanjit Singh (35), a resident of Tarn Taran Road Chatiwind, was on his way to Golden Temple from home at night.

He was standing in front of a hotel on the way. The deceased was reportedly drunk and was smoking. They stopped Harmanjit Singh and a fight broke out. The two Nihangs and a Sikh youth started manhandling Harmanjit.

They killed him with sharp-edged weapons and later fled from the spot. The incident was captured on CCTV.
