Ottawa: Canada’s leading twelve telecom and Internet companies have signed an agreement to share network services and cooperate in the case of a major outage.
The move came after Canada’s industry minister had directed the the major telecom companies last year to reach agreements on emergency roaming, assisting each other during outages to ensure uninterrupted services to Canadians during emergencies.
Minister for Innovation, Science and Industry Francois Philippe Champagne said that these companies have now finally reached an agreement and now if there is a disturbance in a company’s network, other companies will help and assist their customers so that Canadians can stay in touch with their loved ones and 911 can be accessed besides other Internet usages remain uninterrupted.
