Chandigarh: Officers from Punjab have also come under the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as teams raided the house of Naresh Dubey, joint commissioner of Punjab Excise Department, on Tuesday.

The raid took place at his Sector 8 house in Panchkula where documents are being scanned for several hours. For about 8 hours, the ED has scanned the records present in the house. However, there has been no statement from the ED in this matter yet.

The ED has raided more than 30 locations across the country in connection with the Delhi liquor policy. The ED raids come amidst Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will attend various programmes in Haryana’s Hisar on September 7 and 8. The ED’s action is being described as a matter related to excise policy. The ED has recently launched a money laundering probe into the alleged liquor policy scam in Delhi.

Punjab’s excise policy in controversy

In fact, Punjab’s excise policy is also in controversy. Akali Dal and Congress called it a similar to Delhi.

Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal even claimed that the policy had led to a scam of Rs 500 crore.

The Congress and akali dal also submitted a memorandum seeking a CBI probe into the Punjab excise policy.

Why Naresh Dubey was raided

The important thing in this case is that no other excise officer has been investigated in Punjab, so is Naresh Dubey associated with Delhi’s excise policy? Has he been involved in making excise policy? Questions are being raised about whether he is close to any of the accused named in any Delhi liquor policy or is close to anyone in the Delhi government.
