Ontario: A 33-year-old man sustained serious injuries in an assault case, Surrey RCMP is investigating said.

The police is asking anyone with information to contact police in the incident.

Police said that they were called to a residence in the 9000 block of 128 Street on August 22 at 1:12 am and found a man with series injuries lying in the driveway of the residence.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police is investigating the case to ascertain what led up to the victim being assaulted and injured.

The preliminary investigation revealed that he had been attending a gathering in the area when he was chased away by a group of male suspects and assaulted.

The suspects, described as three South Asian males, fled the area in a vehicle, believed to be a silver 4-door SUV, police said in a statement.

Police appealed locals to contact contact the Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit at 604-599-0502 to provide more information, including dash cam footage around the area.
