New Delhi: The the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday began its 72 hours dharna against the central government at Rajapur Mandi Samiti in Lakhimpur city to press for its various demands, including the sacking of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra.

Several farmer leaders from Punjab, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait, Yogendra Yadav, Medha Patekar and others were also present on the stage during the protest.

Thousands of farmers from Punjab have reached Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday to join the dharna. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has decided to hold a protest from August 18 to 21 demanding ‘justice’ in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

They demanded that a case be registered against Union Minister Ajay Mishra and he should be dismissed from the cabinet in connection with the killing of four farmers and a journalist in the Lakhimpur incident. BKU national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said that Union Minister of State for Home Mishra should be sacked from the cabinet and arrested immediately for conspiring to kill four farmers and a journalist in Lakhimpur Kheri district.

The jailed farmers should be released immediately and the cases against them should be withdrawn.

He also demanded a law guaranteeing MSP from the C-2 +50% formula by the Swaminathan Commission on all crops and guaranteeing the sale of all crops above MSP should be made by the central government.

Farmers said the the debt of all the farmers of India should be waived off.

The outstanding amount of farmers on behalf of the block mills of Uttar Pradesh should be released immediately. They also sought rollback of the Electricity Bill 2022.
