Surrey: A person was injured following an assault in a Newton neighborhood on Thursday morning.
The police have also arrested a man in connection with the incident, who has been sent to RCMP cells.
In a press release, Surrey RCMP said officers received information regarding an assault with a weapon in the 12900 block of 68 Avenue at 10:07 am on Thursday.
“When officers reached the spot, a 20-year-old man was located with apparent stab wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment,” Mounties said.
Injuries of the victim are believed to be non-life threatening.
According to the police, initial information suggests that an altercation ensued when the victim interrupted a theft from a vehicle.
The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.
