Surrey: RCMP on Tuesday said a 19-year-old from Calgary has been charged in relation to a shooting in Surrey.
In a press release, the RCMP said their Serious Crime Unit investigated the shooting and identified Akoch Piot from Calgary as a suspect.
The shooting in which a man was injured happened on April 17 in the 14800 block of 76 Avenue in the Newton area.
According to the Mounties, Surrey RCMP’s serious crime investigators worked in coordination with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), Calgary Police Service, and Surrey RCMP’s Digital Field Technician Services to advance the investigation.
The suspect, Akoch Piot, has been facing attempted murder; arson; discharge of a firearm; and possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition charges.
The suspect was taken into custody on July 17 and was transferred to B.C., where he is awaiting his next court appearance.
