The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is calling on the public to help further its investigation into a man found inside his vehicle with gunshot wounds who has succumbed to his injuries.

Surrey: On December 27, 2020 just after 10:30 p.m., emergency services were called to the area of 137A Street and 90 Avenue in Surrey, B.C. for a man in a vehicle needing medical assistance. The man, identified as 19-year-old Harman Singh Dhesi, was found with gunshot wounds and taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

IHIT is investigating with the assistance of the Surrey RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service. The I-Teams from the Lower Mainland RCMP have also been called out to assist with evidence gathering.

The victim was known to police and his shooting is believed to be a targeted incident. Investigators will be working to determine motive.

“The initial phase of any investigation is critical for us as we move quickly to secure time-sensitive and perishable evidence,” says Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT. “We are appealing to anyone with dash cam video to secure the footage and to contact us immediately.”
