On December 4th, 2021, at 1:55 pm, Abbotsford Police Patrol officers responded to the 32700 block of South Fraser Way after a motorist called police advising that an unknown male in another vehicle had pointed a handgun at them while driving.

With the assistance of the caller, Abbotsford Police Patrol Officers quickly located the man and his vehicle. A high-risk arrest was conducted resulting in the man being safely taken into custody. During the man’s arrest, an imitation firearm was located within his waistband.

Nineteen-year-old Dane ASPIN of Mission has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 9th.

“Carrying or pointing imitation firearms within our Community is unacceptable and in some cases criminal. These actions create fear for the victims of these incidents and put police in difficult situations. It is nearly impossible for responding officers to determine if the firearm is an imitation or is real until it is in the hands of the police”, said AbbyPD Patrol Staff Sergeant Marcus Senft.
