Carberry: RCMP on Thursday said 15 people were killed after a bus carrying people from Dauphin, Manitoba, collided with a semi truck.

Most of the passengers travelling in the bus were seniors.

Mounties said 10 people have also been sent to hospital after they received injuries.

Assistant Commissioner Rob Hill, who is also the commanding officer of Manitoba’s RCMP, said the crash happened at the intersection of Highways 1 and 5 west of Winnipeg.

He said every available resource has been sent to the scene.

A family support centre has also been set up at a Lutheran Church in Dauphin for relatives.

Hill said he can’t imagine what families anxiously waiting for news of their love ones are going through. — Canadian Press
