New Delhi: The PLA faction attempted to unilaterally change the status quo on December 9 by encroaching on the LAC in the Yangtze area of Tawang sector. This attempt of China was faced firmly by our army. There was a scuffle in this clash. The Indian Army bravely prevented the PLA from encroaching on our territory and forced them to go back, officials said.

“Some soldiers from both sides suffered injuries in this clash. I want to tell this House that none of our soldiers have died or been seriously injured. Due to the timely intervention of the Indian military commanders, the PLA troops went back to their places, Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh said.

After this incident, the local commander of the area held a flag meeting with his Chinese counterpart on December 11, 2022, under the established arrangement and discussed the incident, he said in the Parliament.

The Chinese side was forbidden for such action and asked to maintain peace and tranquility on the border. This issue has also been raised at the diplomatic level with the Chinese side. He said, “I want to assure the House that our forces are fully committed to safeguarding our territorial integrity and are always ready to prevent any attempt against it. I am confident that this House will support the valour and courage of our armed forces in one voice.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today held a meeting with the three service chiefs — Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary — over the India-China face-off. Foreign Secretaries Vinay Kwatra and Giridhar Armane were also present.
