Vancouver: The police have said that an alleged vandal has been arrested and charged with mischief after more than 20 panes of glass were intentionally shattered at bus shelters on Granville Street on Tuesday night.

In a statement, Vancouver police said officers responded to Granville and Georgia Street around 1:30 am following reports that a man with a hammer was walking down the street and smashing glass at bus stops.

Police said witnesses called 911 and briefly detained the man until Vancouver Police Department officers arrived and took him into custody.

The suspect has been identified as Sergey Kurmanaev, 47, and he was taken to jail and has been charged with one count of mischief over $5,000.
