Washington: With a deadline of two weeks, American schools and universities should drop their diversity initiatives, particularly race-based practices in admissions, hiring, and financial aid; otherwise, they would have to bear the federal funding cut. The personal essays predicting race and scholarships for certain racial groups are deemed to be discriminatory by the memo by the Education Department. This memo cites the Supreme Court 2023 ruling against race-based college admissions. Schools that thought the changes won’t make any difference are now confused by student aid and diversity programs, while others are scrambling to comply.
