Toronto: Toronto commuters will have to spend more for public transit beginning as Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) fares are going to go up starting from Monday.
Under the $2.4 billion budget of the transit system passed by the City Council earlier this year, cash fare and one-ride Presto tickets will be increased by 10 cents to $3.35.
Along with this increase in fares, the eligibility and fare increase for the Fair Pass Transit Discount Program will increase to 50,000 people, while there will be no hike in fares for monthly pass users and seniors in 2023.
According to the TTC table given here, the fares will increase from April 3, 2023.
Meanwhile, the group representing TTC Riders termed the hike in fares as a very cruel decision. They said that this is targeting the low-income people of the city.
