Toronto police say that one of their officers has been killed in the line of duty after he and another officer confronted a suspect.
Constable Jeffrey Northrup was killed overnight in the parking garage at Toronto City Hall.
Police say the 31-year veteran was intentionally struck by a vehicle after responding to a 9-1-1 call for a robbery in progress.
One suspect has been arrested but no word yet on charges.
Chief Ramer says Northrup loved his job and had recently asked to return to the major crimes unit after spending time training new recruits.
