Ottawa: The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) says it’s too early to provide estimates of insured damages from British Columbia fires that are still burning.

However, experts do recommend getting your insurance claim started as soon as possible.

Daniel Ivans with Rates-dot-ca says those filing a claim don’t need to have a full picture of the damages right away, noting that information can be added later.

The IBC says all standard homeowner and tenant insurance policies cover damage caused by fires and also provide coverage to help with the cost of mass evacuations. — Canadian Press
