Kootenay: A teacher from Kootenay River Secondary School has been arrested for allegations of sexual offences against two students, BC RCMP said on Monday.

The Mounties said on September 8, Kianuko Wayne Louie was formally charged with Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Assault, Criminal Harassment, Extortion, Telecommunications to lure a child under 18, and Possessing Child Pornography, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

“It’s being alleged that while he was teaching at Kootenay River Secondary between October 2022 and June 2023, Louie engaged in these offences with students,” the RCMP said. 

The suspect was released from custody on numerous bail conditions, including having no contact with the two victims and prohibition of visiting any public park, school grounds, where persons under the age of 18 are reasonably expected to be present.

His next court appearance is on September 28th, 2023.
