Jaipur: Five people, including two children, were killed and around 50 others injured when two gas cylinders exploded during a wedding ceremony near Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on Thursday, police said.

Officials said a gas cylinder leaked at the venue where the wedding party was being prepared caused the explosion. A part of the house where the wedding was taking place also collapsed due to the blast.

12 people are reported to have suffered serious burn injuries in the accident. The incident took place in Bhungra village, about 60 km from Jodhpur. District Collector Himanshu Gupta said, “It was a very serious accident.”

Out of the 50 injured, 42 have been referred to MGH Hospital. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is expected to visit the injured at the hospital this evening.
