Following the approval of education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, the Punjab school education department has introduced a new subject called ‘Welcome Life’ to inculcate moral values in the students.

 

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the school education department said that this subject has been implemented in all the government, affiliated, associated, aided and unaided schools in the state. This new subject ‘Welcome Life’ has been commenced from the current session 2020-21. According to the spokesperson, the aim of this is to impart quality education to the students as well as to strengthen their moral values so, that they can become good citizens of the society.

 

According to the spokesperson this subject would be taught to the students from pre-primary to XII classes. There will be a total of 100 marks in this subject out of which 50 marks will be for written examination and 50 marks will be for practical. The paper for the the Board classes (V, VIII, X and XII) would be prepared by the Punjab school education board while for the remaining classes the subject would be assessed at the school level. The marks and the grade obtained by the student will be recorded on the certificate.

 

According to the spokesperson, the syllabus for this subject is prepared by the SCERT.On the basis of this syllabus books will be published by the Punjab School Education Board and will be made available to the students. School principals are instructed to spend at least one period a week on the subject.
