Chandigarh: Former Minister Sunder Sham Arora, who is in jail in a bribery case, has also not got relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. During the last hearing today, the High Court had ordered the Punjab government to file a status report of the case. The status report has been filed by the State Government. After this, former accused minister Sunder Sham Arora could not get regular bail even in the High Court. The high court has adjourned the matter till next week.
Arora had earlier filed a petition in a Mohali court in Punjab seeking regular bail. The court had dismissed his plea and sent Arora to judicial custody. Arora had then applied for regular bail on November 11. While hearing this, the High Court had ordered the Punjab government to file a status report.
Attempt to bribe AIG of Rs 50 lakh
Sunder Sham Arora had tried to bribe Vigilance AIG Manmohan Kumar to pay Rs 50 lakh to him to defend himself in a case. During this time, the vigilance team arrested him with the bribe amount to be presented. Arora had brought the bribe money from his house.
Vigilance investigation has revealed that Arora then boarded a KIA car from Hoshiarpur and first reached Mohali Airport Road. Then he changed his car and bought the Marbella Grand partner’s Innova Crysta car. With an Innova, he approached AIG Manmohan Kumar with the bribe money.
During this time, the PA of the owner of the Innova car was also present with him. When Sunder Sham Arora started paying Rs 50 lakh as bribe to AIG Manmohan Kumar, the vigilance team, who was ready with a trap and arrested him.
