Toronto: Toronto police are searching for the driver who hit a police officer and injured him seriously in Scarborough parking lot.
According to the information, police were called to the parking lot in the Elsmeyer Road area on Kennedy Road around 6:15 p.m. after receiving reports that an officer had been hit by a vehicle.
Acting Inspector Craig Young said police officers in plainclothes were present in the area to investigate a case. Meanwhile, one person has also been arrested.
Inspector Young said a man, who was driving a four-door white car, deliberately brought the vehicle to the police officer and hit him.
The police officer who was hit was immediately taken to the hospital. He is said to have sustained some injuries.
The driver of the vehicle escaped from the parking lot after hitting two other vehicles going west on Elsmeyer Road. The vehicle with a Quebec license plate and its driver were later arrested from the area itself.
The police are still on the lookout for another suspect.
