Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has convened an urgent meeting with his incident response group over wildfires burning in the country, including fires raging in the Northwest Territories.
A readout from the Prime Minister’s office said the cabinet committee discussed wildfires across the country this year.
During the meeting, evacuation efforts in Yellowknife were also discussed.
Trudeau asked ministers to work with partners in the telecommunication sector to ensure essential services remain available.
He also stressed there would be no tolerance for price escalation of airfare and essential goods for evacuees. — Canadian Press
