Ottawa: The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has declared that a Listeria outbreak linked to some plant-based milks is over, with no new cases reported since August.

The investigation found Listeria in the production environment of Silk and Great Value refrigerated plant-based beverages. However, PHAC could not pinpoint the exact source of contamination, and production will remain halted until the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is satisfied with the facility’s renovations.

The CFIA had previously traced the source of the illnesses to a specific production line at Joriki, a third-party facility in Pickering, Ontario, used by Danone Canada.

As of August 12, there have been 20 confirmed infections across Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and Alberta, along with three deaths. This situation led to a national recall of several Silk and Great Value plant-based milk products on July 8, with the latest best before date being October 4.
