Ontario: Premier Doug Ford will make the announcement with Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney in Bradford today.
According to Ford’s office, the two leaders will make the announcement at 11:00 a.m. But it is yet to be ascertained in what connection the announcement will be made. The announcement is being made amidst disruptions in the education and transit sector this week.
School students across the province have not been able to study since Monday due to the strike by education workers. But most schools reopened on Tuesday after Ford promised to roll back a law outlawing workers’ strike. Meanwhile, around 2,200 transit workers also went on strike, bringing bus services to a standstill in the GTA and its surrounding areas.
These workers have been without any contract since June and say that they also want to renew the contract. The two sides are likely to resume talks by the end of this week.
