Chandigarh/ Bathinda, October 1
With an aim to provide respite from traffic snarls to residents of Bathinda, Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, and PWD Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla on Thursday laid the foundation stone for five infrastructural projects, worth Rs. 95 crore, in the city.
Since Bathinda is an “A category” railway station within the Ambala railway division and is one of the busiest stations, railway lines criss-cross the entire city. This results in people getting stuck in traffic jams. Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said that the new projects are aimed at reducing this traffic congestion and vehicle jams in Bathinda.
Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal along with PWD Minister Vijay Inder Singla todal laid the foundation stones of Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) on the Bathinda-Delhi, Bathinda-Patiala, and Bathinda-Sirsa Railway lines. The two ROBS would be constructed at Dana Mandi and Sanjay Nagar.
Similarly, two Railway Under Bridges (RUBs) would be constructed at Sirki Bazaar and Sanjay Nagar, besides construction of a Foot Bridge at Sirki Bazaar. With the completion of these projects, residents of Sanguana Basti, Sanjay Nagar, Naruana, Amarpura Basti, and Bhagat Singh Nagar will benefit greatly, the Finance Minister added.
PWD Minister Mr. Singla said that these new projects would fulfill the people’s aspirations for hassle-free commuting, besides boosting the city’s infrastructure. The Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government is fully committed to the holistic infrastructural development. These projects are a part of a series of development projects that have been launched in Punjab to revitalize state’s development, he asserted.
