Delta: Police have said one person has been arrested after a stolen pickup truck crashed in Ladner. Later, the authorities came to know that the truck was stolen from Tsawwassen on Monday morning. 

In a press release, the Delta police said on Monday at 12:45 pm, the police received a call regarding an unknown person passed out behind the wheel of a pickup truck in the 4900 block of Westminster Avenue in Ladner. 

The police said a concerned citizen checked on the man to ensure his welfare and once the man was awake, he drove away. 

The police said approximately four blocks later, the driver crashed the truck into two parked cars.

“When the dispatchers queried the license plate, they learned the truck was stolen from Tsawwassen on Monday morning. Following the crash, the suspect driver attempted to flee the scene but was detained by witnesses and Delta Fire Fighters until the arrival of the responding police officers,” reads the press release issued by the Delta police.

The police said charges will be forwarded including possession of stolen property, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, and assault. 

There were no significant injuries from this incident, the police added.
