Nominations for the ‘Sustainable Development Goals Action Awards’ will be filled up till September 16, 2020. These awards were announced by the Punjab Planning Department in collaboration with the UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals Coordination Centre (SDGCC).
An official spokesperson of the Planning Department said that the winners of awards would be announced virtually on the UN SDGs Day, which falls on September 25, 2020. Nominations for the awards in five categories- Economic Sustainability, Social Upliftment and Welfare, Environment Sustainability, ‘Leaving no one behind’ spirit, award for promoting integration, convergence, joint action and holistic solutions approach- have been sought from general public, universities, industries and all departments of the state. To ensure sustainable and holistic development of the state, the spokesperson said that the Punjab Government had signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2019. As part of this MoA, a Sustainable Development Goals Coordination Centre (SDGCC) has been set up in the Planning Department with UNDP’s support.
