Kate O’Brien Claims Canada’s First Medal at Paris Paralympics with Bronze in Women’s C4-5 500m Time Trial
Paris: Kate O’Brien won Canada’s first medal at the Paris Paralympic Games, earning bronze in the women’s C4-5 500-metre time trial. The 36-year-old from Calgary finished behind gold medalist Caroline Groot of the Netherlands and silver medalist Marie Patouillet of France. O’Brien, who previously won silver in Tokyo and has a history of racing in the Olympics, switched to Para cycling after a 2017 crash. She also holds silver medals from the world Para cycling championships. Fellow Canadian Keely Shaw did not qualify for the final.
