Making an emotional appeal to the people of Punjab, Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Thursday urged the people to come forward and undergo Covid testing as delayed reporting by the patients to the hospitals is the cause of concern in this battle against the pandemic.

Sidhu, who held a review meeting on Covid-19 situation in Jalandhar with the health department, said that state government and its machinery are working round the clock to halt the spread of the virus and we need just wholeheartedly support of everyone in the terms of quick reporting to the health department at the very onset of sickness or other symptoms.

He said as soon as someone develops fever or flu-like symptoms, he or she must get tested for Covid promptly so that treatment can be started at the earliest of the patients with co-morbidities.

Sidhu told everyone has to play a significant role in this war by remaining vigilant about the precautions which would help them to protect from Covid-19 pandemic as only awareness is vital for keeping the Covid-19 pandemic at bay.

Calling the health staff as his own family, the Minister also hailed their contribution and said they are working tirelessly in this war against the pandemic. He said that history will remember this battle which was fought by doctors, medical staff and others for rendering the duty to serve the ailing humanity.

He said that the entire humanity bows before these brave hearts who were working untiringly to save human existence.

He said that the hard work of these soldiers without uniforms would ever act as inspiration for the other officers to perform their duty diligently.

Meanwhile, Sidhu also showed satisfaction over the aggressive testing carried out by health teams in Jalandhar.

Prominent among present on occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, SDM Rahul Sindhu, Medical Superintendent Dr Mandeep Kaur, SMO Dr Kashmiri Lal, Dr Paramjit Singh and others.
