Chandigarh: The head of Waris Punjab De, Amritpal Singh, suffered a double blow on Thursday. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has reprimanded Iman Singh Khara, advocate of Amritpal Singh, for filing a habeas-corpus against revoking NSA and arrest of his five associates, including Prime Minister Bajeke.
The legal advisor of Waris Punjab De had filed a habeas corpus for lodging Bajeke and others to Dibrugarh jail in Assam. Hearing the case, the High Court said, “NSA was revoked on Bajeke by Punjab Police and on what basis has the Superintendent of Assam Jail been made a party in it? Does the lawyer not even know the basic law?”
The lawyer, in defence, said his council was lodged in Dibrugarh jail and wanted to meet him. On this, the High Court said that why didn’t they approach the Assam High Court?
The High Court unequivocally said that the ground of his petition is not right. Now this case will also be heard again on April 11 along with the Amritpal’s case.
Meanwhile, the Habeas corpus is filed when the accused is caught by the police but his arrest was not shown and the family does not know about his whereabout.
Similarly, in the video released by Amritpal Singh, he urged Akal Takht Jathedar to call for a Sarbat Khalsa on April 13. However, the Jathedar has also curbed this by declaring Baisakhi programs.
Giani Harpreet Singh, jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has also ruled out the possibility of calling Sarbat Khalsa. He announced to organize Khalsa Sajna Diwas and Gurmati Samagam dedicated to Baisakhi at Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo on April 12-13.
