In a gesture of appreciation towards the services of the exceptional order rendered by its employees as frontline fighters against Covid-19, the Cooperation Department today handed over the insurance claim amount of Rs. 25 lakh each to the family members of the three employees who lost their lives battling the pandemic.

The Cooperation Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa handed over the cheques worth Rs. 25 lakh each to the wife Surinderjit Maroke of Deputy Accounts Officer of the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Nakodar, Daljinder Singh, Surinder Kaur wife of Milk procurement Assistant (Milkfed) Harjinder Singh and Khemlata, wife of Watchman Doran Prasad (Milkfed).

Sharing the grief of bereaved families, S. Randhawa said that the loss suffered by the families cannot be compensated and the department stands by them in this hour of grief. I bow to all the employees of various institutions of the cooperative sector who served the people of Punjab by always being in the forefront, said the Cooperation Minister. He further added that the Cooperation Department is fully committed to the well being of every employee and its family as per which the insurance of Rs. 25 lakh for one year in respect of the employees was done at its own level.

The families of the deceased employees expressed gratitude to the Cooperation Minister.

Among others present on the occasion included Special Chief Secretary (Cooperation) Kalpana Mittal Baruah, Registrar Cooperative Societies Vikas Garg and MD Markfed Varun Roojam.
