Canada’s chief public health officer says there are multiple indicators that there’s increasing transmission of COVID-19 in recent weeks.

Dr. Theresa Tam says getting vaccines up to date is key -as is getting a booster.

She also suggests a vaccine-plus approach, like wearing a mask when indoors with people from outside their households.

Tam says we need to be prepared for a resurgence of COVID in the fall and winter and the potential need for additional booster doses at that time.

She agrees there is a need for greater access to information about where the virus is spreading and who it is impacting so people can make informed decisions

Tam says a booster dose further increases vaccine effectiveness to over 90 per cent against severe outcomes
