Ottawa: Public Safety Minister David McGuinty announced recently that , Canada has cited seven such transnational criminal syndicates that are to be regarded as terrorist entities. The violent acts such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, and illegal arms trade are prevented in the country’s streets from suffering the wrath of fentanyl. This was just a day after the U.S. issued an official declaration tagging certain drug cartels, including Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel, as global terrorist organizations. In addition, Canada has appointed a fentanyl czar. While only 0.2% of fentanyl seized in the U.S. comes from Canada, most traces of the drug actually originate from the U.S.-Mexico border.
