Burlington: Two people have been injured seriously in a fire that broke out at a home in Burlington on Friday morning. The matter is being investigated by the police.

A team from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office rushed to the spot as soon as the news of the fire broke out in the house located on the WindingWay near the Guelph Line on Highway 407 around 1:15 am on Friday.

Firefighters responding to smoke and flames showing and has caused $500,000 damage, officials said.

When the fire crew reached the spot, the house was engulfed in flames and there was smoke all around. Halton police said an elderly man and woman had received a lot of smoke.

Police said the woman suffered minor burns and was airlifted to a hospital. 22 firefighters were present at the spot to douse the fire. The fire was brought under control by the time the news was written. Burlington Fire said the fire started in the living room. The matter is being investigated.
