British Columbia: The province has opened disaster financial assistance (DFA) for residents affected by a flash flood in Savona last month. Approximately 20 homes were impacted by sudden flooding on June 30, forcing temporary relocation for some households. The Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness has launched an online portal to streamline applications for DFA, aiming to expedite reimbursement for uninsured losses of essential items. Residents, including homeowners, renters, business owners, farmers, corporations, and charities who lacked insurance coverage for flood-related damages, can apply through this portal until October 14. The maximum amount that can be claimed from the DFA is $400,000. Residents have until Oct. 14 to submit their claims.
