Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Punjab’s Bathinda, Amit Ratan Kotfatta’s PA has been caught accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh by the vigilance.
The MLA was also questioned by the Vigilance in this case. Kotfatta had reached the Circuit House in Bathinda. The bribe was taken by MLA’s PA Resham Singh in exchange for passing the panchayat bill from the husband of the woman sarpanch of village Ghudda.
The vigilance team arrested PA and took him into custody. The money has been recovered from the MLA’s vehicle, following this MLA was also questioned by the team.
According to initial information, the panchayat’s money and grant were stuck in the sarpanch of village Ghudda, Seema Rani. The MLA’s PA Resham Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 4 lakh from him.
According to the rules, the Block Development Panchayat Officer used to release this amount, but due to the alleged pressure of the MLA, he was not giving the money.
According to the information, PA Resham Singh took the bribe money and kept it in the car. At that time, the MLA got down from the car and was talking to some people. Vigilance took this action under the leadership of DSP Sandeep Singh.
PA Resham Singh also tried to escape during the arrest. However, he was arrested. After that, the MLA was also detained by the team. Both are being questioned sitting in the circuit house.
AAP MLA Amit Ratan Kotfatta said he had no connection with Resham Singh. He’s not even his PA. Action should be taken immediately against whoever has taken bribe. Amit Ratan said that he appeals to the police administration to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter.
