British Columbia: B-C’s Ministry of Transportation is warning motorists travelling on Highway 1 between Sicamous and the Alberta border to prepare for delays due to avalanche risks.
The ministry’s Drive-B-C information system says a weather advisory is in effect for the 292-kilometre-stretch until at least Sunday evening.
The advisory says rapidly warming temperatures could create changing avalanche conditions along the route, leading to short-notice closures.
Avalanche Canada says risks levels remain high for much of southwestern, northwestern and eastern B-C as well as parts of Vancouver Island.
