Ottawa: Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) are in talks with a special mediator to resolve their national strike, now in its fourth day. The union seeks fair wages, safer working conditions, and better retirement benefits, while Canada Post faces significant financial losses, with parcel volumes dropping 42% compared to last year. Both parties aim to avoid imposed arbitration and reach an agreement through mediation. Canada Post has proposed an 11.5% wage increase over four years, additional paid leave, and maintained pension benefits.
