Paris: Canada’s women’s rugby sevens team won silver at the Paris Olympics after losing 19-12 to New Zealand in the final.
New Zealand’s Risi Pouri-Lane scored first, but Canada responded with tries by Chloe Daniels and Alysha Corrigan, leading 12-7 at halftime. In the second half, New Zealand’s Michaela Blyde and Stacey Waaka scored tries, and Tyla King added a conversion to secure their win.
Canada previously won bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, their best result before this silver medal.
