British Columbia: B.C. residents can apply for up to $3,500 in grants to cover tuition for short-term training programs in high-demand fields. The StrongerBC Future Skills Grant program, launched last year, supports training at public post-secondary institutions.
Applications are open for the fall semester, with over 300 programs available starting in September. The grants cover various fields, including emergency medical response, electric-vehicle repair, wildfire fighting, and cybersecurity.
Camosun College has seen over 550 applicants use the grant and offers 40 eligible courses, including arc welding and film production assistant. Premier David Eby highlighted the need for skilled workers to meet growing job demands.
Residents aged 19 and older are eligible. Last year, over 7,000 people benefited from this grant.
