British Columbia: The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) reports that at least six homes have been impacted by the Shetland Creek wildfire in the Venables Valley area, which has affected over 20 structures in total. The fire, still out of control, has led to nearly 100 properties being placed on evacuation alert, with over 200 properties in Ashcroft and Spences Bridge also on alert. The fire spans approximately 19,941 hectares and has forced the closure of Highway 1 between Spences Bridge and Ashcroft. The BC Wildfire Service reported nearly 80 new fires on Monday, primarily caused by dry lightning, bringing the total to 362 active fires in the province.
