Vancouver: Police are investigating a fatal collision that killed a 28-year-old man on Thursday morning.
The police said a blue Honda Accord traveling east was stopped at a red light at West Georgia and Burrard at around 3 am when the driver of a white Plymouth Voyager drove into the back of the Honda.
“The van caught fire and the driver had to be extracted from the vehicle. The driver and one passenger in the Honda were seriously injured and taken to hospital. A second passenger in the Honda died on scene,” Vancouver Police said in a statement.
The police said although the investigation is still in its early stages, it is believed speed and impaired driving contributed to the crash.
According to the police, the 34-year-old suspect, driving the van, was taken to hospital for serious injuries.
