Chandigarh: Toll tax will become costlier in Punjab from March 31 midnight. After 12 o’clock in the night, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will implement the 10% rise in the price of Toll tax.
After this, the toll for the car has been increased from Rs 5 to 10.
In Punjab, NHAI will keep one line for paying cash toll. However, it will also be closed soon. After this, if someone leaves the toll without FASTag, then they will have to pay double toll as fine.
During the farmers’ movement, the toll was also closed and later prices of toll plazas in Punjab were increased. Farmers’ organisations had set up a permanent front and kept tolls closed for months.
Due of this, companies have now started making adjustments by increasing the rate. People say that the prices at toll plazas are increased every year, but the government is unable to provide transportation facilities to the people.
People still have to get stuck in traffic jams on the highway for hours. At many places, roads are broken.
