Victoria: Elections BC has said that the petition to recall BC premier David Eby, who is a member of the legislative assembly for Vancouver-Point Grey, has failed.

The independent elections agency said the petition was not submitted to Elections BC by March 20, the deadline which was established by the Recall and Initiative Act.

According to information, the petition was issued to proponent Salvatore Vetro on January 17. A total of 271 voters registered as canvassers to collect signatures.

Elections BC said the recall proponent, MLA and advertising sponsors must file financial disclosure reports with the Chief Electoral Officer by April 17.

“Twenty-nine recall petitions have been issued since the Recall and Initiative Act came into force in 1995 and None have met the requirements established by the Act,” said the Elections BC.
