Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has summoned former Congress minister Vijay Inder Singla in connection with disproportionate asserts to his known income sources.
He has been summoned to appear before the Sangrur office of Vigilance Bureau on March 17
An official of VB said that an inquiry pertaining to disproportionate assets was started against him three months and it is first time when he was asked for questioning in this case.
“Few months back, vigilance had asked the local government to dig revenue records of Sangrur district to find any fishy records registered on his and his family members’ names,” he added.
Singla was elected member of parliament from Sangrur constituency in 2009 and later lost to Bhagwant Mann in 2014.
However, he won assembly elections from Sangrur in 2017 and become cabinet minister in Congress regime. Among the major portfolios, he had PWD and education departments.
Aam Aadmi Party government has launched a crackdown on Congress ministers and three former ministers were also arrested in the past. Meanwhile, Singla is seventh former minister who is facing vigilance probe in disproportionate assets case, officials said.
