Chandigarh: In a heart-wrenching incident in Hoshiarpur, two among a 8-year-old crushed to death under a truck, during a snatching attempt in Hoshiarpur, police said on Saturday.

According to the information, two unidentified robbers tried to snatch a purse of a pillar rider woman on a scooty near Miani village, 40 km from Hoshiarpur, when, the scooty lost control and collided with the tractor.

In this incident, the woman’s 8-year-old son and 21-year-old niece died after being crushed under truck on the highway. The woman, who was riding the scooty, was also seriously injured in the incident, police said.

Tanda Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kulwant Singh said the woman and the child were sitting behind the scooter when two unidentified robbers tried to snatch the purse from the woman, resulting in the scooter colliding with the tractor.

After the incident, the police have registered a case against unidentified criminals and started searching for them. Police claim that the accused will be arrested soon.

There has been a significant increase in the incidents of snatching and looting in Punjab these days. The police conduct special campaigns to clamp down on robbers. But despite this, miscreants are carrying out incidents in broad daylight.
